By Divya Shah
Why it matters: The partnership highlights the growing focus among African financial institutions on modernising digital banking channels to improve customer onboarding, payments and self-service capabilities. By adopting a scalable digital banking platform, Rawbank can accelerate product innovation and expand access to financial services, supporting financial inclusion while meeting rising demand for digital-first banking experiences across the region.
Rawbank has adopted the SBS Digital Banking Suite to accelerate the deployment of digital banking services and enhance the customer experience across its retail and business banking operations.
The implementation will enable Rawbank to simplify and digitise key customer journeys, providing users with improved mobile and web banking applications, enhanced self-service capabilities and faster access to banking products and services.
Customers will also benefit from reduced waiting times for processes such as digital account opening, card management and payment services.
Designed to be flexible and scalable, the SBS Digital Banking Suite provides a modern digital banking platform that supports secure and reliable service delivery while aligning with international technology standards.
Arvind Kumar, CIO at Rawbank, said, “With the SBS Digital Banking Suite, we are strengthening our ability to offer our customers simpler, more accessible and higher-performing services. This platform will allow us to speed up the launch of new features, deliver an enriched digital experience, and pursue our ambition of making financial services accessible to as many people as possible in the Democratic Republic of Congo.”
The initiative forms part of Rawbank’s broader strategy to modernise its digital ecosystem, respond to evolving customer expectations and strengthen its position in digital financial services within the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Hassan Nasser, Deputy General Manager, Digital Engagement at SBS, said, “With Rawbank, we are entering a new phase: one where a high-performing core banking foundation meets a digital layer designed for today. It is precisely this combination that allows a bank to establish itself as the benchmark in digital banking in Central Africa, drawing on both a detailed understanding of the local market and world-class technological capabilities.”
Rawbank said the technology upgrade will support its long-term financial inclusion goals by making modern banking services more accessible to individuals, entrepreneurs and SMEs across the country. The enhanced platform is expected to improve access to digital payments and provide a richer mobile banking experience for customers.
