QNB rolls out next-gen DN Series 500 ATM with Diebold Nixdorf
By Gloria Methri
Qatar National Bank (QNB) has become the first financial institution in the Middle East to deploy Diebold Nixdorf’s DN Series® 500 cash recycler, marking a significant step in regional ATM infrastructure modernisation.
The new lobby terminal, powered by dual cash engines, delivers the highest deposit, recycling, and dispensing capacity available on the market today. This rollout represents QNB’s continued investment in advanced branch automation, improving customer experience and operational efficiency.
Diebold Nixdorf’s licensed partner in Qatar, Protech Solutions, is overseeing the project’s services. Designed for high-volume usage, the dual-tower DN Series 500 enables QNB customers to deposit up to 300 banknotes and 30 cheques in a single transaction, all with the added benefit of counterfeit detection. The system’s embedded sensor technology monitors device performance in real-time and proactively alerts technicians to ensure greater uptime and service availability.
The ATM is powered by Diebold Nixdorf’s RM4V fourth-generation cash recycling engine, offering scalability through four flexible cassette types that support up to 13 denominations, allowing banks to adjust functionality according to customer and branch needs.
“With Diebold Nixdorf’s advanced technology and software, we can provide consumers with convenient banking services like cash deposits to meet their needs better,” said Adel Al-Malki, Senior Executive Vice President – Group Retail Banking at QNB Group. “The company’s innovative DN Vynamic® software enables a unique digital experience for all users in line with QNB Group’s branding vision.”
The new ATM features a 19-inch touchscreen, multi-colour privacy side panels, and custom indicators, enhancing user interaction. Its architecture also allows for future enhancements, including interactive video banking, touchless services, and cardless withdrawals — aligning with QNB’s digital-first strategy.
“We are proud to partner with QNB, one of the region’s leading financial institutions, as they continue to enhance customer satisfaction through exceptional service and convenience,” said Habib Hanna, Managing Director, Middle East, at Diebold Nixdorf. “By adopting Diebold Nixdorf’s advanced branch automation solutions, QNB is ensuring an innovative next-generation banking experience across both digital and physical channels, reaffirming its commitment to innovation and customer-centricity.”
