Perfios

India-based B2B TechFin firm Perfios has received Offline Verification Seeking Entity (OVSE) certification from the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), enabling it to offer Aadhaar-based identity authentication without requiring real-time access to UIDAI’s central database.

With the certification, Perfios joins a limited group of 17 organisations authorised to conduct offline identity verification using Aadhaar QR codes or the mAadhaar app. The capability allows businesses to verify customer identities in a consent-based manner while minimising data exposure and improving operational efficiency.

Offline Aadhaar verification enables instant, paperless Know Your Customer (KYC) processes across sectors including financial services, hospitality, and education. By eliminating dependency on network connectivity and central database calls, the approach is designed to enhance privacy protections and reduce onboarding friction.

“Achieving the OVSE certification from UIDAI is a defining step that reaffirms Perfios’ commitment to the Digital India initiative and to end-user data privacy,” said Krishna Chaitanya, Chief Product Officer at Perfios. “Offline verification empowers instant, paperless KYC, complete offline identity authentication, and significantly enhanced privacy and data security.”

The company said the solution is built around a privacy-first framework, with consent-driven verification, simplified user journeys, and improved completion rates due to reduced process complexity.

The development reflects a broader shift in India’s digital identity ecosystem toward privacy-preserving authentication models. For financial institutions and FinTechs, offline verification can lower infrastructure dependency, support operations in low-connectivity environments, and help address growing regulatory and consumer scrutiny around data security.

As digital onboarding volumes continue to rise across lending, payments, and account opening, UIDAI-certified offline verification is emerging as a strategic capability for firms seeking faster customer acquisition while maintaining compliance and trust within India’s expanding digital economy.
