netsEuropean payment services provider Nets announced that it is now offering PayPal as a payment option for its merchants in the Nordics. The development will allow the company’s customers in Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden to leverage PayPal on the Nets e-commerce platform NetsEASY. Nets already offers PayPal service in Germany along with integration with its online payment checkout in local currencies.

paypalPatrik Müller, e-commerce expert at Nets, said, “Our online checkout – with PayPal as an integrated part of our range of available payments – continues to become more complete and accommodating. This is especially important for merchants with an international customer base and will support their further growth with international consumers shopping on Nordic websites.”

Recently, Nets Group announced that its Finnish e-commerce specialist, Paytrail has signed an agreement to acquire OP Financial Group’s Checkout Finland Oy. The acquisition is expected to bolster Nets’ European e-commerce plans and strengthen position in Finland market. The completion of the transaction is subject to approval from FIN-FSA, and the transaction is expected to close during the first half of 2021.

This year, Nets and Nexi teamed up in exclusive negotiations to reach a potential binding agreement on the terms of a merger. The agreement aims to establish a pan European PayTech provider. The transaction remains subject to reaching a binding agreement during the 10-day exclusivity period, as well as all necessary corporate and regulatory approvals.
