Lenovo expands payment options with Klarna’s BNPL solution
By Gloria Methri
Global technology firm Lenovo is now enabling shoppers in 15 European countries to use Klarna’s flexible payment methods for their tech purchases on Lenovo.com. This offering includes Klarna’s interest-free buy now, pay later (BNPL) options.
“This is massive news for lovers of high tech and haters of hidden fees and high interest. Now consumers can spread the cost of their tech essentials without paying record high interest to the big banks,” said Raji Behal, Head of Western and Southern Europe, UK & Ireland at Klarna.
Klarna offers a fairer alternative to credit cards with strong guardrails that enable responsible spending. The company checks a consumer’s eligibility before approving each purchase and provides a clear instalment plan with friendly reminders to help shoppers keep on top of their payments. These guardrails clearly work, as 99% of lending is repaid, and 40% of orders are repaid early.
By offering interest-free BNPL, Lenovo is offering its customers one of the most innovative and fastest-growing payment methods today. Worldwide BNPL spending grew by 18 per cent in 2023, according to a report by Worldpay.
Angus Cormie, Director & GM, EMEA eCommerce for Lenovo, said, “This partnership means that our customers can spread the cost of Lenovo’s AI-enabled and optimised devices, from powerful workstations to portable laptops, in easy-to-manage, interest-free installments.”
Lenovo has launched Klarna’s full range of payment products in Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK.
Klarna recently announced that office supply retailer Staples now offers its flexible payment options to customers shopping online at Staples.com. Staples joins more than 100,000 merchants that have joined Klarna’s network of partners over the past year. Klarna now works with 46 of the top 100 US retailers, including Airbnb, Uber, Adidas, Expedia, Rite Aid and many, many others.
