KlarnaKlarna is set to launch its flexible payment methods on Adyen’s physical payment terminals across Europe, North America and Australia. Adyen is the first global Payment Service Provider to launch Klarna simultaneously on all physical payment terminals worldwide.

The move is a significant milestone for Klarna, which has been steadily growing its presence in physical stores and strong online presence in recent years.

The launch builds on Klarna and Adyen’s long-standing partnership, simplifying payments and improving the customer experience for online retailers worldwide. After this pilot phase, the new offering should be available for a wider rollout during October.

“We want consumers to be able to pay with Klarna at any checkout, anywhere,” said David Sykes, Chief Commercial Officer at Klarna. “Our strong partnership with Adyen gives a massive boost to our ambition to bring flexible payments to the high street in a new way.”

Adyen is one of the leaders in the in-person payments solutions industry, with over 450,000 devices ranging from countertop devices to mobile terminals.

Adyen is launching Klarna’s Dynamic QR solution. To make a payment, the customer scans a QR code displayed on the Adyen terminal and completes the transaction on their mobile device. The customer can pay using one of Klarna’s interest-free BNPL payment methods and can keep track of the purchase in their Klarna app, alongside all their other purchases.

“We’re excited to work together on this pilot, offering shoppers a new, flexible way to pay that will redefine the in-store experience,” said Alexa von Bismarck, President of EMEA at Adyen. “This launch highlights the strength of our collaboration with Klarna as we bring their Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) payment method to in-store terminals for the first time. We see that consumers care deeply about the in-store touch point and value brands which can allow them to pay how they want – ultimately, that is what this collaboration with Klarna is all about.”
