ISO 20022ISO 20022 is an emerging global and open standard for payments messaging, becoming one of the major transformations to hit the financial services industry in recent years. Introduced in 2004, ISO 20022 aims to develop a common syntax in transactions, accelerate international payments, increase straight-through-processing (STP), improve interoperability, enhance compliance such as AML checks, and ultimately reduce cost through operational efficiencies.

Banks that fail to comply with the ISO 20022 standard can face the risk of payment process inefficiencies due to manual interventions, issues with STP, and challenges with fraud and compliance throughout the entire payment cycle.

IBS Intelligence, in collaboration with Fiorano Software, is hosting a webinar on the 16th of September 2020, to explore the ISO 20022 Migration Trends. The webinar is expected to deep dive into the challenges faced by banks undergoing migration, as well as the approaches and strategies adopted to overcome those challenges.

The webinar will see the participation of five panelists:

  1. Andrew Muir, ISO 20022 Programme Community Engagement Lead, SWIFT
  2. Alenka Palme, Director Payments, NLB
  3. Daniel Cassar, Head of Digital Innovation, APS Bank
  4. Vipin Vishwanathan, Senior Lead Analyst, IBS Intelligence
  5.  Biju Suresh Babu, Managing Director, Banking & Financial Services, Fiorano Software

Titled, “Solving the ISO 20022 Migration Conundrum“, the webinar will focus on the key challenges faced by banks during the migration process, including aligning with other internal bank projects, legacy infrastructure, cost & effort to modernize, etc.

With no one size fits all concept, banks are expected to evaluate corresponding approaches based on the state of their technology infrastructure, resources, and skillsets. The migration, though inevitable, holds many complexities and challenges and tests the banks’ potential to manage modernization efforts within time and resource constraints.
