Cash App has announced its integration with Google Play, giving consumers a preferred alternative payment option when checking out on their Android smartphones or tablets.
This partnership represents an opportunity to engage with a broad range of consumers, particularly in the gaming space. By joining forces, avid Cash App and Android users will be able to seamlessly pay for and access millions of apps, games, music, movies, books, and more.
“We’re continuously expanding payment options on Google Play, and adding Cash App Pay is a significant step in giving users more choice and convenience while meeting their evolving payment preferences,” said Pete Albers, Director of Google Play Retail & Payments Activation.
With approximately $3 trillion in annual consumer spending being funnelled outside of the traditional financial system, younger shoppers are looking to alternative payment solutions like Cash App Pay when shopping. Cash App Pay provides customers with a convenient and simple way to pay by using their Cash App balance or linked debit card.
“Next gen shoppers are demanding more choices at checkout, and we know they’re also looking for more ways to pay with their own money. This partnership not only empowers them to pay flexibly for the things they want, but it also marries two strong customer sets and maximizes their mobile utility,” said Tanuj Parikh, Head of Partnerships, Cash App and Afterpay at Block.
Cash App Pay currently has 4 million monthly actives, adding 1 million monthly actives each of the last four quarters2. When checking out on Google Play, Android users can select Cash App Pay as their preferred payment method.
