By Vriti Gothi

Google has partnered with the World Bank Group to accelerate digital transformation across emerging markets by building AI-powered public digital infrastructure. This initiative aims to enable citizens to access essential services through interoperable, future-ready networks.
At the heart of the partnership is the deployment of Open Network Stacks robust digital frameworks that allow governments to rapidly create interconnected networks across critical sectors such as agriculture, healthcare, and skills development. By leveraging Google Cloud’s advanced AI capabilities, including its Gemini models, alongside the World Bank Group’s development expertise, the initiative ensures citizens can engage with AI-driven services in over 40 languages, even via basic devices.
The collaboration builds upon a successful pro bono pilot in Uttar Pradesh, India, which empowered thousands of smallholder farmers to enhance profitability through AI-enabled solutions. To promote a sustainable and open ecosystem, Google.org is supporting the launch of Networks for Humanity (NFH), a nonprofit focused on universal digital infrastructure. NFH will implement Beckn open network protocols and Finternet asset tokenization, establish regional innovation labs, and pilot socially impactful applications across multiple regions globally.
This partnership represents a significant step forward in shaping inclusive, citizen-centric digital infrastructure. By combining cutting-edge AI technology with strategic development insights, Google and the World Bank Group aim to deliver scalable solutions that strengthen governance, economic opportunity, and digital accessibility for millions of people worldwide.
