FPT and UOB have signed a memorandum of understanding to explore opportunities in artificial intelligence, digital banking transformation and financial services innovation across Asia-Pacific.

The agreement, announced at the Vietnam-Singapore Tech Connect Forum, will see the technology provider and the regional bank assess ways to modernise banking infrastructure, enhance digital capabilities and develop new financial services solutions across UOB’s key markets.

The partnership has focused on areas including AI-driven banking innovation, digital lending, payments, embedded finance and cloud-based transformation. Both organisations have also outlined plans to explore cross-border financial services opportunities and support broader ecosystem development across the region.

David Nguyen, CEO of FPT Asia Pacific, said, “The future of financial services will be shaped by how effectively institutions scale AI, modernise digital platforms, and strengthen cross-border connectivity. Together with UOB, we aim to build more scalable, AI-first models while opening stronger pathways for innovation, enterprise growth, and ecosystem connectivity across Vietnam, Singapore, and the wider APAC region.”

The collaboration has combined UOB’s regional banking footprint with FPT’s expertise in AI, data analytics, automation and digital transformation. The two organisations are expected to develop a detailed implementation roadmap, governance framework and pilot programme within the next 90 days.

Lawrence Goh, Head of Technology and Operations, UOB, said, “This MoU reflects UOB’s strategic intent to build a future-ready bank through strong technology foundations, responsible AI and purposeful partnerships. Together with FPT, we will explore practical opportunities to modernise our architecture, improve development productivity, scale AI responsibly and develop innovative solutions that create long-term value for our customers and businesses.”

The agreement marks another step in UOB’s efforts to accelerate the adoption of emerging technologies, including generative and agentic AI, while strengthening its role in connecting businesses and financial opportunities across ASEAN. For FPT, the partnership expands its presence in a region that remains a strategic growth market for the company’s digital transformation services.
