Fime and Bsmart bring EMV Level 3 services to Brazil
By Edlyn Cardoza
Fime has enhanced its collaboration with Bsmart to provide local EMV Level 3 test services in Brazil. Bsmart’s trained engineers can now support, in addition to EMV card tests, the evaluation of point of sale (POS) terminals using Fime’s Savvi test tool. This expanded local support allows stakeholders to bring their payment-enabled devices, including EMV payment terminals and SoftPOS solutions, to market quickly and easily.
Building on their existing testing offering, Fime and Bsmart are now offering Latin American issuers and acquirers strategic consultancy, implementation support and certification tools and services. The services include test environment configuration, test plan design, result inspection, issue diagnosis and certification submission support. The partnership also enables issuers and acquirers to benefit from local language and invoicing services. This removes the potential inconvenience of having to send products overseas for validation.
Maurício Cabrera, Software Engineering Leader at Bsmart’s customer HypeFlame, says: “During our recent certification project, we were able to benefit from Fime’s world-class certification services and Bsmart’s excellent local support. Working with an international lab, which has worldwide expertise combined with a local presence, made the process easier from a customer service point of view.”
Alexander Dannias, Managing Director of Bsmart Group, also celebrates the ecosystem’s positive reaction to having an accredited, world-leading lab providing global expertise to Latin American players in their local language and time zone: “The investment we made to equip the laboratory and train our team is being widely recognized by the market. Local issuers and acquirers have long awaited first-rate testing and certification services that could help them decrease time to market. We are proud to be bringing the expertise of a laboratory the size of Fime to the Latin American region.”
Laurent Beuchotte, Sales Director – Americas region at Fime, adds: “We are pleased to build on our partnership with Bsmart to enhance our issuing and acquiring offering for Latin American payment stakeholders. The proximity of Bsmart’s office in Brazil and the expertise of our teams together will allow customers to access local technical support and on-site services. This will help them to gain approval for their products faster and more efficiently. This is key to meeting our goal of supporting the growth of digital payments in the region.”
Recently, IBS Intelligence reported that Fime is the first to be approved by the European Card Payment Cooperation (ECPC) to test and certify payment terminals and SoftPOS solutions according to the CPA Contactless Extensions (CPACE) specification.
