FAB launches Jaywan debit card to strengthen UAE payments
By Milan Rojan
First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB) has launched the Jaywan Debit Card, expanding its domestic payment offering and supporting the UAE’s national payment infrastructure. The card has been introduced under the Jaywan national card scheme, managed by Al Etihad Payments and backed by the Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE).
Futoon Al Mazrouei, Group Head of Personal, Wealth and Business Banking at First Abu Dhabi Bank, said: “The Jaywan Debit Card reflects FAB’s commitment to delivering secure, innovative and customer-focused payment solutions that support the UAE’s evolving financial ecosystem.”
The launch has strengthened FAB’s participation in the UAE’s sovereign payments ecosystem by providing customers with a locally focused debit card for everyday transactions. The card has enabled users to make purchases at merchants across the UAE, withdraw cash from ATMs nationwide and complete online payments on UAE-based platforms.
Integrated with the FAB Mobile app, the Jaywan Debit Card has provided customers with access to transaction monitoring, account management and digital servicing tools through a single platform.
To enhance payment security, the card has incorporated 3D Secure authentication alongside Chip and PIN technology for in-store and online transactions.
The Jaywan Debit Card has been made available to customers holding eligible FAB accounts. Existing customers can apply through the bank’s mobile application or branches, while new customers must first open an account before requesting the card. Elite and Private Banking clients can also apply through their relationship managers.
The launch has aligned with the UAE’s broader strategy to strengthen domestic payment capabilities, encourage digital payment adoption and reduce reliance on international card networks. By adopting the Jaywan scheme, FAB has expanded customer access to secure local payment services while supporting the development of the country’s national financial infrastructure.
