EBANX taps Yape to streamline payments for global merchants
By Vriti Gothi
EBANX, a FinTech company, has partnered with Yape, a digital wallet app, to launch a direct integration for cross-border transactions.
This first-of-its-kind integration empowers global e-commerce merchants to seamlessly offer Peruvian consumers access to recurring, on-file, and one-click payment experiences supported either through Yape wallet balances or linked cards. By eliminating friction and increasing approval rates, the collaboration is poised to enhance payment performance and unlock new revenue streams for cross-border merchants operating in one of Latin America’s fastest-growing digital economies.
Peru’s digital economy is on a rapid growth trajectory, projected to reach USD 60 billion by 2027, with an annual growth rate of 20%, according to EBANX’s Beyond Borders 2025 report. Within this, digital wallets are emerging as a dominant force. They represented 10% of Peru’s digital commerce volume in 2024 and are expected to grow at an annual rate of 17% through 2027, as reported by Payments and Commerce Market Intelligence (PCMI). Yape alone captured the largest share of all digital wallet transaction volumes in the country last year.
As Peru experiences greater digital penetration and increasing consumer trust in digital financial services, the Yape-EBANX partnership addresses a critical market need: providing a frictionless, inclusive, and high-performing payment solution. According to Yape’s internal figures, the platform achieves a 93% transaction approval rate significantly enhancing the reliability of recurring and subscription-based payment models.
Claudia Silva, Head of Payments at Yape, said, “With over 14 million active Peruvian users, Yape empowers millions of consumers with reliable daily transactions. This direct integration with EBANX marks a significant step in expanding our reach to global merchants, allowing them to tap into the vast potential of the Peruvian market. Yape is a key driver of this growth, reshaping the financial landscape and enabling financial inclusion, particularly for those without access to traditional banking.”
Juliana Etcheverry, Director of LatAm Country Growth – South Cone at EBANX, said, “Through partnership with Yape, EBANX enables merchants to access a seamless, secure, and high-conversion payment solution that drives immediate results, for one-time purchases as well as for subscription-based services and recurring payments. This partnership goes beyond payments; it’s about fostering scalable, long-term growth for merchants in a rapidly evolving market.”
