CMS equIP, EarthID, decentralised identity platform, Blockchain, UKCMS has partnered with EarthID, a decentralised identity platform, to issue digitally verifiable certificates to members of the firm’s start-up accelerator programme, CMS equIP.

The CMS equIP programme supports innovative start-ups with strong intellectual property assets by providing discounted legal support, mentorship, and access to CMS’s extensive international network of industry leaders, investors and entrepreneurs.

The new digital certificates, issued by EarthID, will offer the London equIP programme members verifiable proof of selection into the equIP programme. The certificates can be shared on members’ digital and social platforms, enabling them to publicise their association with the programme and build trust with investors, partners and clients.

The certificates use blockchain technology and are uniquely linked to the member’s company, ensuring authenticity and enabling easy verification.

Anthony Waller, Partner and Co-Head of Technology, Media and Telecommunications (TMT) at CMS, said, “Start-ups are navigating an increasingly competitive investment landscape, and we are aware that reputable credentials can play an important part when building trust with both investors and clients. We intend that these new digital certificates will provide our equIP members with a new and useful credential that showcases their participation in our international accelerator programme. We are excited to work with EarthID to deliver this new offering.”

Priya Guliani, CEO of EarthID, said, “EarthID’s commitment to innovation and security aligns with CMS’s mission to support IP-rich start-ups on their growth journey. We are excited to collaborate with CMS in equipping these start-ups with verifiable digital credentials, helping them build trust and credibility in the market.”

The CMS equIP programme currently supports over 150 UK start-ups and the programme is also available internationally across 30 of our global jurisdictions. To date, more than 250 start-ups globally have graduated from the programme.
