Clearwater Analytics has introduced embedded agentic artificial intelligence capabilities within Beacon by CWAN, its enterprise risk and quantitative analytics platform, aiming to streamline model validation, exposure analysis and institutional risk workflows.

Announced from Boise, Chicago, New York, London and Hong Kong, the upgrade integrates AI directly into Beacon’s calculation engine, allowing quantitative teams to run real-time analysis on live positions and validated models without exporting data into external tools. The company said the architecture is designed to address increasing regulatory scrutiny and rising portfolio complexity, factors that have intensified operational demands on institutional risk teams.

Unlike overlay-based AI tools that rely on separate analytical layers, Clearwater’s approach embeds AI within the core risk infrastructure. The system trains client-deployed agents on firm-specific positions, approved models and real-time calculations, enabling continuous risk analysis from trade-level exposures to enterprise-wide aggregation.

According to the company, the new capabilities enable faster validation of Value-at-Risk (VaR) models, credit risk frameworks and custom analytics across multiple instruments and market scenarios. Processes that previously took weeks can now be completed in hours, with automated generation of documentation tailored to technical and executive audiences. The platform also supports natural-language queries for scenario analysis and stress testing, with outputs traceable back to underlying positions and sensitivity drivers.

Kirat Singh, President of Risk & Alternative Assets at Clearwater Analytics, said, “The architecture was designed to balance AI-driven automation with deterministic modelling and auditability. Risk management requires precise and deterministic models. Our risk architecture and APIs are designed with AI in mind to enable agentic workflows and explainability to allow you to trace the analysis back to underlying positions and validation models,” Singh said. He added that the platform allows firms to build their own agents and workflows on top of its cross-asset analytics framework.

Clearwater said the system supports operationalised workflows such as limits monitoring, regulatory reporting preparation, tail risk analysis and cross-portfolio exposure aggregation. The AI agents are intended to execute multi-step processes within Beacon’s governed cloud environment rather than merely generate recommendations.

The firm also emphasised enterprise security controls, noting that the AI capabilities operate within each customer’s cloud instance to maintain data isolation and compliance standards. The release builds on Clearwater’s broader AI platform strategy announced in November 2025, when it introduced more than 800 AI agents for deployment across over $10 trillion in client assets.

The move reflects a broader industry shift toward embedding AI directly into core financial infrastructure rather than applying it as an external analytics layer. As institutional investors contend with tighter oversight and more complex asset allocations, platforms that combine real-time risk calculations with explainable AI may become a competitive requirement rather than a differentiator.
