Toronto-based FinTech startup KOHO, offering Canadians an alternative to their traditional banking experience has announced the addition of Google Pay support to their no-fee banking app.

Google Pay is a digital wallet platform and online payment system developed by Google to power in-app and tap-to-pay purchases on mobile devices, enabling users to make payments with their smart devices. Through the integration, KOHO users have the support of using their KOHO prepaid Visa card on Google, Apple and Samsung Pay for contactless payments.

“Our users have eagerly requested the convenience of Google Pay, and we are happy to answer that call today. The integration of Google Pay now offers all of our Android users the connected benefit of accessibility, and rounds out our digital wallet offering alongside Apple and Samsung Pay,” said Aaron Cheng, VP of Product for KOHO.

With the integration, KOHO users on Android devices can seamlessly add either their physical or virtual KOHO cards to Google Pay, and experience an easy and minimalistic payment experience at merchants around the globe.

Recently Invoice Cloud integrated Apple Pay & Google Pay to enhance e-payment.

For users to add KOHO card to Google Pay, they have to select Add New Card within the Google Pay app and hold  KOHO card up to the camera window.

Founded in 2014, KOHO is a full-service chequing account that comes with a reloadable prepaid Visa card and integrated app. The FinTech, through its app and a reloadable card, offers Canadians a new approach to spending and saving. It takes no monthly fees, no interest charges, no e-Transfer fees, and no NSF fees. The company has partnered with Peoples Trust, a federally regulated and CDIC-insured bank and its card is covered under Visa’s Zero Liability policy. Recently KoHo partnered with Hyr to provide Canadians early access to pay.
