Spanish retail bank, CaixaBank today announced that it has more than two million customers using the CaixaBank Sign application for conducting online, web, and mobile banking transactions on their smartphones. The figure, doubled since October 2019, has apparently grown post the lockdown declarations due to COVID-19.
The application allows customers to use their smartphones for carrying out operations from anywhere. The Bank also uses the app to improve the security of digital payments with a strengthened authentication system. CaixaBank Sign can be installed on a single device per user and requires the use of the digital banking access code for secure identification.
The app is available for both Android and iOS and is a free application for the bank’s online banking customers. The Bank’s service allows biometric identification, payments between people, and Click&Go loans, among others. Furthermore, CaixaBank also offers imagin, the first mobile-only bank in Spain, which is managed exclusively through a smartphone application.
Recently, CaixaBank announced that it would start offering credit cards made of 100% recycled material to its customers in Spain. The Bank stated that the Visa & Pay product could be requested both in branches and online by interested customers. The cards have been made from recycled PVC from sources, including waste from the construction industry, plastic recycling bags, or other cards.
