Barclaycard Payments has announced the extension of its relationship with SAP in a bid to make its payments gateway product, Smartpay available to SAP customers across Europe. This development will allow businesses signed up to the SAP Commerce Cloud to access Smartpay and benefit from fraud defences as well as consistent payments offering across online and offline channels.

Recently, the companies collaborated for incorporating Barclaycard’s business-to-business payment solution, Precisionpay, into the SAP Ariba Network.

Marc Pettican, President, Barclaycard Payments, said, “This expansion of our partnership with SAP opens up big opportunities not only for us but also for the many businesses that use the SAP Commerce Cloud across Europe. They will gain access to a leading payment gateway and will be able to offer customers a smooth, safe and seamless checkout experience.”

According to Barclaycard, Smartpay supports one-click purchases and allows buyers to use a variety of different cards, currencies and payment methods. It also leverages the latest anti-fraud approaches for detecting fraudulent transactions in real-time and reduce false positives. This approach protects the business’ finances and minimises negative customer experiences, such as payment declines.

Charlie Platt, VP and Head of Strategic Customers, SAP UK, said, “This innovative agreement demonstrates the power of our partnership with Barclaycard and our continued alignment to its long-term strategy. SAP Commerce Cloud customers can now deploy a trusted and market-leading payment gateway solution that can help to grow their businesses.”

Recently, Barclaycard Payments announced a new partnership with fraud prevention provider, Kount in a bid to offer customers of Barclays Transact with access to fraud detection software.
