Bank Nizwa launches WhatsApp banking to enhance customer experience

Bank Nizwa, WhatsApp, banking, Islamic bank, FinTech With the aim to provide digitally advanced solutions to its accountholders, Bank Nizwa, an Oman-based Islamic bank has launched Whatsapp banking service, to cater to its existing and potential customers across the globe.

Commenting on the launch, Arif Maqbool Al Zaabi, Assistant General Manager Retail Banking, Bank Nizwa said, “In today’s rapidly evolving banking environment, digitalization and financial technology are the key enablers of product and service innovation. At Bank Nizwa too, developing the IT infrastructure is one of our most important strategic goals for the short and long term. Innovation is continuous within the Bank and is based on partnerships that enhance customer-facing applications as well as back-end processes and systems. The launch of our Whatsapp banking service exemplifies this approach and is a step towards becoming the ‘digital bank of choice’ in the Sultanate.”

To avail of the bank’s new Whatsapp banking service, a customer needs to add the Whatsapp banking number, +968 24 655 555, from his or her registered mobile number to get started. Once added to the contact database, the customer can start a chat to get an immediate response. The new service supports making queries related to Bank Nizwa products and services 24*7, and from anywhere in Oman or abroad. The service also provides FAQs for all products, including bank account, credit and debit card, loans and financing, and vehicle takaful, among others.

Bank Nizwa efforts in the FinTech field are evident today in the bank’s efforts of integrating technology with Islamic banking, which enables customers to bank from the comfort of their homes. Its commitment is anchored on preserving healthy customer relationships by cultivating trust, relevance and convenience through every banking channel. These channels are guarded by advanced security features and ensures all confidential information remains protected.
