Bank Muscat, a financial services provider, has expanded its digital payments ecosystem with the continued rollout of its Tap‘N’Go contactless payment service.

Designed to empower small businesses and entrepreneurs, Tap‘N’Go enables merchants to accept secure card payments directly through their Android smartphones, no additional hardware or point-of-sale devices required. Supporting all major cards equipped with Near Field Communication (NFC) technology, the solution streamlines transactions and reduces reliance on cash handling, delivering unprecedented convenience for both merchants and customers.

Waleed Al Hashar, Chief Executive Officer of Bank Muscat, said, “Bank Muscat’s Tap‘N’Go service reflects our commitment to driving digital transformation and supporting Omani businesses with secure, agile, and future-ready payment solutions. As Dhofar welcomes thousands of visitors during the Khareef season, we are proud to empower local merchants—food trucks, small shops, cafes, and home-based businesses—to serve their customers more efficiently and confidently.”

Targeting a wide spectrum of businesses—from taxi drivers and delivery companies to startups and independent retailers, Tap‘N’Go extends the benefits of contactless payments to segments that have traditionally faced barriers to digital adoption. By transforming any compatible Android smart device into a contactless payment terminal, the service ensures that merchants can meet the expectations of today’s digitally savvy consumers.

This innovative solution complements Bank Muscat’s comprehensive portfolio of cutting-edge digital services, including Samsung Pay, Apple Pay, and QR code payments. By integrating globally recognised technologies with local market needs, the Bank continues to set new benchmarks for customer-centric design and secure digital banking.

Looking ahead, Bank Muscat remains dedicated to expanding its suite of secure, smart, and Shariah-compliant digital payment solutions, ensuring that businesses of all sizes have the tools they need to thrive in an increasingly cashless economy. As the Khareef season unfolds, the Bank stands ready to empower merchants and delight visitors with seamless payment experiences that reflect the very best of Omani hospitality and innovation.
