ANZ Chief Financial Officer Michelle Jablko to leave ANZ
By Edil Corneille
ANZ announced that Chief Financial Officer Michelle Jablko will leave the bank following her decision to take up a senior role at another organisation outside of financial services.
Since joining the bank in July 2016, Jablko has been Chief Financial Officer as well as a member of ANZ’s Executive Committee. She was appointed a director of ANZ New Zealand Limited in March 2018 and is a passionate supporter of diversity and inclusion having served as Executive Sponsor for ANZ’s Pride Network.
ANZ Chief Executive Officer Shayne Elliott said, “While we are disappointed Michelle is leaving, we respect her decision and wish her the best in her new role.
“Michelle can be incredibly proud of all she has achieved at ANZ. As a highly strategic CFO, she has transformed our finance function while also being instrumental in the simplification and strengthening of the organisation. She will always remain a good friend of the bank and I personally thank her for her considerable contribution over the past four and a half years,” Elliott said.
Jablko said, “It was an incredibly tough decision to leave ANZ, however I am looking forward to putting my experiences to use in another industry. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed working with Shayne and the broader team as well as playing a role in the bank’s continued success. I’m particularly proud of the work we have done to strengthen and simplify the bank as well as the highly capable finance function we have built over the last few years. I know the team will continue to do a great job for ANZ’s shareholders and customers.”
ANZ will conduct an internal and external search for a replacement with Jablko to transition her duties over the coming months to current Group General Manager Internal Audit Shane Buggle who will be appointed as Acting Chief Financial Officer. Buggle has spent more than 20 years at ANZ in senior finance roles and was Deputy Chief Financial Officer from 2012 until 2018.
Jablko will also step off the board of ANZ Bank New Zealand Limited with a replacement to be announced early next year.
