Ageras has acquired a Dutch payroll software, Employes, to expand its integrated offering and further simplify essential financial operations for entrepreneurs across Europe.

This marks Ageras’ second major acquisition in 2025 and its most significant milestone since the landmark takeover of French business banking platform Shine from Société Générale in 2024,  a clear signal of Ageras’ commitment to redefining how Europe’s small businesses manage and pay their workforce.

Founded in 2012, Ageras has rapidly grown into one of Europe’s most trusted partners for entrepreneurs, offering an integrated suite of solutions spanning invoicing, accounting, banking and now an enhanced payroll capability. The addition of employes to Ageras’ portfolio strengthens its footprint in the Netherlands and brings an intuitive, scalable payroll platform designed specifically for small businesses navigating the complexities of Dutch regulation.

Founded in 2018 by entrepreneurs Rob Kroezen and Marius van den Oever, Employes has redefined payroll for thousands of modern Dutch businesses. With a user-friendly, do-it-yourself approach, the platform enables over 6,000 companies and more than 300 bookkeeping firms to run payroll smoothly and compliantly. The team behind Employes will now join Ageras’ expanding workforce of over 450 professionals a figure that has doubled since 2024, bringing deep domain expertise and a strong customer base to the group.

The acquisition aligns seamlessly with Ageras’ strategy to build Europe’s leading all-in-one financial hub for small businesses. The company, backed by prominent investors including Investcorp, Coller Capital and Lazard, has accelerated its growth through a series of targeted acquisitions expanding its capabilities from invoicing and accounting to banking, reconciliation and payroll. Ageras recently reported robust 2024 financial results, delivering an EBITDA of $10.1 million on revenue growth of 114% to $64.8 million.

Looking ahead, Ageras intends to continue its expansion through further strategic acquisitions, reinforcing its mission to simplify business administration so entrepreneurs can focus on what truly matters: growing their business.

Rico Andersen, CEO and Co-Founder of Ageras, said, “Employes is an ideal match for Ageras, both companies share a relentless focus on empowering business owners and delivering technology that makes daily administration radically simpler. By welcoming Employees into our group, we are not only elevating our Dutch offering but unlocking the ability to transform payroll management across Europe. This is our most significant acquisition since Shine joined our ecosystem last year, and it firmly positions us to lead the future of small business payroll.”
