ABN AMRO to launch Gen Z-focused digital bank, BUUT
By Gloria Methri
ABN AMRO is set to introduce BUUT, a new digital banking platform tailored for younger users, launching after the summer. Developed in just twelve months by the teams behind Tikkie, BUUT aims to reimagine everyday banking for the next generation, offering a familiar yet distinctly modern financial experience.
Positioned as “everything you’d expect from a bank—but with a twist”, BUUT reflects a broader strategic shift by ABN AMRO to meet evolving customer expectations in an increasingly digital-first society. The platform combines the creative DNA of Tikkie with ABN AMRO’s robust financial infrastructure, offering a visually rich, intuitive, and fully interactive interface.
“The world is changing, so we are too,” said Annerie Vreugdenhil, Chief Commercial Officer of Personal & Business Banking at ABN AMRO. “There are more possibilities, we want more, and we expect more. As a next-gen bank, BUUT understands this. It’s easy to use, interactive, 100% visually driven and totally at home in the world of the new generation. BUUT is everything you expect of a bank, but designed to Tikkie a different box.”
Reimagining Financial Literacy for Young Users
The launch of BUUT comes at a time when young people are facing increasing complexity in managing their finances. With more payment methods available than ever before, maintaining financial visibility and control is becoming increasingly challenging. Research by Dutch financial literacy institute Nibud reveals that many young people struggle to gauge their financial position accurately—often underestimating or overestimating how much money they have.
This gap in financial literacy is what BUUT seeks to address. “As young people in this phase of life learn to save, keep within a budget and understand the impact of financial choices, BUUT is the solution this generation needs,” Vreugdenhil added.
BUUT marks the latest in a series of innovation-led initiatives by ABN AMRO, which has previously launched successful platforms such as Tikkie, New10, and BUX. These ventures reflect the bank’s evolving, agile structure and its ability to pioneer products that respond directly to the habits and values of newer generations.
By placing digital behaviour at the core of its design, BUUT not only modernises the banking experience but positions ABN AMRO as a leader in creating future-ready financial ecosystems. BUUT will be available for download via app stores after the summer.
