5 Spanish Payment FinTechs to look out for in 2023

Spain’s tech sector is booming. As it has done for some time now, this boom has centred on the country’s financial technology sector. Spain, like many countries, is a conflation of different cultures and values, and from this diversity arises a unique set of ideas about how business should be run. Fintech is thus a natural fit for this environment.

According to Tracxn, there were 892 FinTech start-ups in Spain as of December 2022. Several PayTech companies are transforming the country’s financial space.

Let’s look at five innovative payment FinTechs in Spain in 2023.

Afterbanks is a subsidiary of Minsait, an Indra company. It aggregates bank data and initiates payments. The company is based in Madrid, Spain, and is authorized by the UK FCA to operate as PISP and AISP.

Advancing is a FinTech solution offering landlords the chance to receive 12 months of their rent in advance while protecting them against default payments. The company is based out of Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain.

Founded in 2013, GourmetPay is an app that enables customers to make faster cashless payments at bars and restaurants. It is based in Madrid, Spain.

Lana is a digital wallet for consumer payments that can be accessed through browsers. It offers services such as mobile recharges, parking payments, money transfers, and online/offline purchases.

As a banking software suite for banks and financial institutions, Hubuc offers solutions such as open banking APIs for creating virtual and physical payment cards, IBAN accounts, and white-label tools for KYC and AML, among others. It also provides solutions for compliance, QR-based payments, and more.
