Technisys implements its Cyberbank Digital solution for Banco Macro’s SME and Corporate customers
April 17, 2023
Overview
Banco Macro is an Argentine private bank with the largest network of branches. Their presence in 186 locations in the country makes them an entity with a strong federal culture that supports the regional economies of Argentina, with more than 480 service points. They offer different financial services to more than 4 million customers, both in individual banking as in corporate banking.
Banco Macro had chosen Technisys for Digital Banking platform implementation for SME & Corporate Segment. The implementation had to be a scalable platform which embodied growth and innovation in its offering. The digital platform to be implemented need to have a market specific functionality and certain disruptive differentiators which included dashboards, payment functionality to suppliers, commercial cards, foreign trade, check discounting, collections and salary planning.
Implementation Process
The project included approximately 20 resources including a project manager, technical services analyst, and multi-channel product developers. There was a high involvement of C-level and Executive Level with a Project Lead as the single point of accountability. The project lead defines a stakeholder map of all its stakeholders and a project specific governance structure for a formal decision process along the project lifecycle. Clear terms which outline the organisations’ key result areas and the organisations’ view of the key project stakeholders. The Steering committee/project board is responsible for approving, reviewing progress, and delivering the project outcomes, and its intended benefits.
The program was high in complexity owing to the fact that multiple functionalities need to be integrated in a single platform. As the platform catered to the SME and corporate segment, there were several political or external influences in the financial market that had to be accounted for. The implementation team had a complex structure with specific knowledge of corporate business and government and had adopted an aggressive schedule given the context of COVID-19.
Certain best practices that were adopted during the implementation were:
Service orientation: As the needs of the business change, services are evolved to ensure they remain in alignment. Hence, the platform launched was designed to evolve according to the trends in the banking industry.
Continuous Service Improvement: The team identified opportunities to refine services to perform better as well as enhance their functionality to better meet user needs.
Right capabilities to meet the needs of the business: Understanding what the business needs are, focusing on implementing capabilities that will have the greatest impact and create the most valuefor the bank and the clients.
Benefits Achieved
The implementation was carried out with a clear bifurcation between project governance and organization governance, which gave the team flexibility and speed in decision making with the hierarchial mechanisms associated. This allowed Technisys to provide Banco Macro with speed to market for launching the Cyberbank Digital offering. The implementation drove simplification in the banking processes and led to an enhanced digital experience for its SME and corporate customers. The Cyberbank Digital Suite aimed at providing Banco Macro with focused business operations in a holistic manner, which eventually proved beneficial for the bank’s customers as well as its backend employees.
Conclusion
After the launch of the Cyberbank Digital Product Suite, 90% of the 80,000 clients served by Banco Macro adopted the digital solution in the first 6 months. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there was a hugely positive response to the digital solution provided by the bank. For example, the Cyberbank offering generated 300,000 digital e-check discount operations within 4 months of its launch. The implementation succeeded at integrating operations related to all business banking segments in a single platform.
