Why it matters: The partnership highlights how banks could connect existing systems with tokenised assets, institutional custody and new digital financial products.

BIT Group, a digital asset financial infrastructure group, and Techtanium, a Singapore-based global FinTech company, have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to explore tokenised finance opportunities for banks and financial institutions.

The collaboration will combine BIT Group’s capabilities in asset tokenisation, institutional custody, trading and liquidity with Techtanium’s digital finance platform and banking technology. The companies aim to help financial institutions access tokenised assets, explore new financial products and develop potential business models using their existing banking infrastructure.

Techtanium will contribute its Digital Finance OS (DFOS), a unified and modular platform designed to support banks’ transition from traditional banking to digital finance. The platform combines Unified Core, Super Gateway, tokenisation and business orchestration capabilities, enabling banks to develop and operate products and services across traditional and tokenised finance.

BIT Group will bring its digital asset infrastructure, which covers asset tokenisation, institutional custody, trading, liquidity, financing and asset management. Its ecosystem includes two businesses relevant to the collaboration: Matrixdock and Cactus Custody.

The partnership will explore potential applications including access to tokenised assets, institutional liquidity and bank-issued products such as tokenised deposits. It will also assess how these capabilities could be integrated with existing banking systems without necessarily replacing core infrastructure, while addressing compliance, risk management, security and operational requirements.

Dai Ke, CEO of Techtanium, said, “Together with BIT Group, we aim to help banks pursue these opportunities and develop new business models that could shape the future of financial services.”

Under the MoU, the companies plan to work on joint go-to-market initiatives, solution development and engagement with banks and financial institutions. Initial efforts will focus on identifying practical use cases and evaluating potential integration approaches.

The MoU is exploratory and does not represent a finalised commercial agreement. No specific products, customer deployments or commercial arrangements have been confirmed.

John Ge, co-founder and CEO of BIT Group, said, “Through our partnership with Techtanium, we aim to connect this infrastructure with established banking systems and jointly develop new opportunities for financial institutions.”
