Why it matters: The partnership expanded real-time payment infrastructure, helping financial institutions improve cross-border transactions and provide businesses with faster international payment services.

Global financial services company Ebury has partnered with FinTech company Form3 to offer instant payments in Canada through the country’s new Real-Time Rail (RTR) payment system.

The partnership expanded the existing relationship between the two companies, with Form3 already providing Ebury with connectivity to the UK’s Faster Payments Service (FPS) and Europe’s Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA) payment schemes through its cloud-based platform.

Under the agreement, Form3 enabled Ebury to connect to Canada’s RTR, allowing the company to offer instant payments and smoother cross-border transactions to its corporate clients. The new payment system supported real-time payment exchange, clearing and settlement.

Mike Malak, Country Manager at Ebury Canada, said the companies’ existing success in the UK and Europe made Form3 a natural partner for expanding instant payment services in Canada. He highlighted speed, simplicity and minimal customer disruption as key priorities for the company’s expansion.

The initial rollout of Canada’s RTR was scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2026, with additional participants expected to join in phases throughout 2027. Ebury planned to use Form3’s platform to participate in the successive rollout stages during 2027.

Form3 provided banks and FinTech companies with access to payment networks across North America, the UK and Europe through a single platform. The company processed five billion transactions annually for more than 40 global customers.

The partnership supported Ebury’s international payment expansion and strengthened its ability to provide corporate clients with faster cross-border payment services.
