Capital.com partners with Standard Chartered to expand virtual asset
By Divya Shah
Why it matters: The partnership highlighted growing collaboration between banks and regulated virtual asset firms, strengthening financial infrastructure, transparency and cross-border digital asset services.
Financial services group Capital.com has partnered with Standard Chartered to support its virtual asset services across its business. The partnership became operational across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region and Europe.
Under the agreement, Capital.com gained access to Standard Chartered’s global banking network and institutional banking services. These included fiat currency settlements, client money account services and other services related to virtual assets.
Ying Ying Tan, Global Head of Securities Services and Global Head of Digital Assets at Standard Chartered, said the growing use of virtual assets in mainstream finance increased the need for reliable, transparent and internationally connected banking infrastructure. She added that Standard Chartered’s global network and risk management capabilities supported the movement and management of fiat funds across different markets.
The partnership allowed Capital.com to manage client funds and settlement activities through a single global banking relationship. The services supported its regulated virtual asset businesses, operated through its Capital Vault entities: Capital Vault Virtual Services L.L.C. – S.P.C. in the UAE and Capital Vault Ltd in Cyprus.
The arrangement operated within the regulatory requirements, governance frameworks and controls applicable in each market.
Rahul Kumar, Head of Digital Assets at Capital.com, said the partnership provided its virtual asset businesses with a single regulated banking relationship for fiat settlements, client money services and related activities. He also highlighted the importance of transparency in how client funds and assets were managed.
The partnership strengthened Capital.com’s banking infrastructure as the company expanded its virtual asset services internationally. It also provided a scalable foundation for managing client funds and settlement activities across multiple markets.
