Why it matters: Digital payments, global IPO activity and technology investments highlighted how FinTech innovation continued to attract capital, partnerships and international market opportunities.

The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) highlighted major developments in the global financial and technology sectors in its pre-market update on October 30. The update, delivered by Kristen Scholer from the NYSE Trading Floor, covered developments in digital payments, cybersecurity funding and artificial intelligence (AI) partnerships in sports.

Digital payments company OPay prepared to begin trading on the NYSE under the ticker symbol OPAY. Its initial public offering (IPO) valued the company at more than $4 billion.

NYSE Live planned extensive coverage of the listing celebration, including remarks from company executives and an interview with Co-CEO Lars Boilesen. Connor Group Managing Partner Jim Neesen also shared insights into the current IPO market.

Cybersecurity company Upwind raised $400 million in a Series C funding round, bringing its valuation to $3.8 billion. The company planned to use the funds to expand its product development and engineering teams.

The latest funding round came less than nine months after Upwind raised $250 million in its Series B round.

Co-founder and CEO Amiram Shachar also joined the NYSE’s Taking Stock programme to discuss how the new investment would help organisations protect themselves against emerging cybersecurity risks in the AI era.

Adobe became the official AI Fan Experience Partner of the BWT Alpine Formula One Team. Through the partnership, Adobe aimed to give fans AI-powered tools to create and share their own content.

The agreement also expanded Adobe’s presence in global sports partnerships, following its collaborations with major sports leagues, including the NFL, MLB and NHL.

Adobe executive Marissa Dacay joined NYSE Live to explain the company’s strategy and its growing role in the sports industry.
