Why it Matters: Banks are increasingly looking beyond AI coding assistants toward AI-powered delivery models that can support the entire software development lifecycle. Backbase’s Delivery Factory reflects the growing adoption of agentic AI in banking technology, helping institutions accelerate implementations, reduce project complexity and improve collaboration between business and technology teams.

Backbase has launched Delivery Factory, an AI-powered software delivery platform designed specifically for banks, enabling delivery teams to work alongside specialist AI agents throughout the software development lifecycle.

The solution brings business requirements, architecture documents, meeting notes and Backbase product knowledge into a shared project environment, allowing both human teams and AI agents to work from a common source of information from initial planning through to implementation and review.

The platform has been used across more than 10 implementations over the past year, with project teams delivering software twice as fast as traditional development teams and 30% faster than teams using generic AI coding assistants.

Greg Fahy, CTO Digital Banking at Backbase, said, “Business analysts, solution architects, delivery leads and engineers need to stay aligned as a customer requirement becomes a working experience. Delivery Factory gives them and their AI agents a shared foundation: what the bank has agreed on, how its project is designed and how Backbase works. That helps teams spend less time reconstructing context and more time delivering the changes their customers need.”

Delivery Factory is designed to reduce the loss of context that often occurs during project handovers. By keeping requirements, design decisions and implementation plans connected throughout the process, the platform aims to improve collaboration between business analysts, architects, delivery leads, and engineers.

Specialist backend, mobile and web agents generate implementation plans tailored to project requirements and a bank’s specific Backbase environment. Engineers remain responsible for reviewing code changes and validation results before deployment, while delivery teams retain control over decision-making and project governance.

Alongside the launch, Backbase introduced two additional AI agents designed to support platform modernisation and maintenance.

The Backbase Migration Agent helps financial institutions migrate existing customer journeys, integrations and business logic to the Backbase Banking OS, reducing the need to rebuild systems from scratch.

Meanwhile, the Backbase Upgrade Agent is designed to help banks maintain current platform versions by automating upgrade activities, identifying required updates and integrating platform maintenance into ongoing delivery processes.

Backbase said Delivery Factory is now generally available across all markets, supporting banks seeking to accelerate digital transformation programmes while improving development efficiency and consistency.
