Hyperlayer raises £19.5m to expand banking modernisation platform
By Divya Shah
Why it matters: Hyperlayer’s approach of enabling transformation without core system replacement addresses a major challenge for financial institutions seeking faster digital innovation. The fresh funding will support the company’s international growth and product development, highlighting continued investor confidence in technologies that help banks accelerate digital transformation with lower implementation risk.
UK-based banking technology provider Hyperlayer has raised £19.5 million in a follow-on Series A2 funding round, led by existing investor Flintlock Capital, as the company looks to accelerate global expansion and further develop its banking modernisation platform.
The round also saw participation from Mouro Capital, Susquehanna Private Equity Investments, and LLLP, alongside existing and new investors. Following the investment, Hyperlayer’s total funding has reached nearly £50 million since October 2025, valuing the company at £195 million post-money.
The company provides technology that enables banks, credit unions and other financial institutions to modernise legacy infrastructure without replacing core banking systems. Hyperlayer said the new capital will be used to strengthen its product, engineering and implementation teams while supporting expansion across the US, Europe and Asia-Pacific markets.
As part of the transaction, Joe Shamess, co-founder and general partner at Flintlock Capital, has joined Hyperlayer’s board of directors.
Rob Rooney, Co-Founder and CEO of Hyperlayer, said, “Banks, credit unions and other financial institutions must modernise at FinTech speed without ripping out the core systems that protect them. A year on, that thesis is proven with world-class customers and strong market pull. Leading this round and joining the board is us doubling down on where Rob and Paul take the business next.”
Alongside the funding announcement, Hyperlayer also unveiled changes to its leadership team. Louise Chan, a board director and previously chief operating officer, has been appointed chief commercial officer, while Ben Helps, formerly chief strategy officer, has assumed the role of chief operating officer.
Rooney said the moves reflect the contributions both executives have made to the company’s growth strategy and operational execution.
“Both are exceptional colleagues and serious contributors to our success to date. Louise has been closing the deals that prove the model works. Ben has been building the operating discipline and strategy that let us deliver for clients and scale without breaking. These appointments recognise the roles they are already playing as Hyperlayer grows and gathers pace,” Rooney added.
