Why it matters: The partnership highlights the growing integration of digital wallets into cross-border remittances. By connecting UAE senders directly to Egyptian mobile wallets, Orange Egypt and Botim are reducing friction in international money transfers.

Orange Egypt has partnered with UAE-based FinTech platform Botim to enable users in the UAE to send money directly to Orange Cash wallets in Egypt.

The partnership connects Botim’s network of more than two million Egyptian users in the UAE with Orange Cash’s customer base of approximately 10 million users in Egypt. The service allows recipients to receive funds directly in their digital wallets, where the money can be used for transfers, payments and purchases or withdrawn as cash.

The service is designed to simplify cross-border remittances by providing a direct connection between users in the UAE and Orange Cash wallet holders in Egypt.

Ahmed El Abd, Chief Consumer Business Unit Officer at Orange Egypt, said, “Through this partnership, Botim enables Egyptian residents in the UAE to send money 24/7 directly to Orange Cash wallets in Egypt, delivering a seamless customer experience. Orange Cash customers can conveniently access their funds through 300,000+ cash-out points nationwide, including Orange stores, ATMs, and authorised retailers. Combined with ongoing cashback offers and grand-prize promotions, Orange Cash continues to deliver greater value for everyday financial needs.”

The agreement marks Botim’s partnership with a mobile operator in Egypt and expands the platform’s cross-border payments offering through a local digital wallet network. Botim currently provides a range of financial services in the UAE, including payments, remittances and lending solutions.

Hesham Sherif, Vice President of Consumer Payments and Wealth at Botim, said, “Digital wallets have transformed how people move money, yet they remain largely disconnected across borders. This fragmentation limits their potential to make international remittances more accessible and affordable. At Botim, we are working to bridge that gap by building a network that connects users in the UAE directly to their families’ preferred digital wallets back home.”

He added that Egypt is already among Botim’s top five remittance corridors and that the partnership with Orange Cash expands access to digital wallet-based transfers in the country.

The collaboration forms part of its broader strategy to expand Orange Cash and increase access to secure digital financial services. By linking Orange Cash with Botim’s UAE platform, the companies aim to make remittances easier to receive and manage while encouraging the adoption of digital financial services across Egypt.
