Why it matters: The deployment highlights growing demand for modern treasury technology that delivers real-time visibility, automation, and stronger risk management. For FinTechs, it underscores opportunities in treasury management, capital markets technology, regulatory reporting, and straight-through processing solutions as banks modernise cross-border operations and seek greater operational efficiency.

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has expanded its partnership with Indian Bank by deploying TCS BaNCS for Treasury at the bank’s Colombo branch in Sri Lanka, marking the platform’s entry into the country.

The rollout follows the implementation of TCS BaNCS for Treasury across Indian Bank’s operations in India and at Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City). The latest deployment extends the bank’s treasury transformation programme and supports a more unified treasury operating model across multiple geographies.

The implementation will help Indian Bank modernise its treasury operations in Sri Lanka across key functions including foreign exchange, investment management, and money market activities. Through the platform, the bank’s Colombo branch will migrate to a single integrated treasury environment aimed at improving operational efficiency and risk management.

S Viswanathan, CEO, Indian Bank Sri Lanka Operations, said, “As our treasury operations in Sri Lanka evolve, we need a platform that can support growth with greater control, transparency and operational agility. The platform provides us with a modern foundation to address evolving banking requirements. We look forward to working with TCS as we continue to build a more resilient and scalable treasury operation.”

According to TCS, the platform will provide unified deal processing, real-time visibility into treasury positions, enhanced risk and limit management controls, and improved regulatory reporting capabilities. The implementation is also expected to reduce manual intervention, increase straight-through processing rates, and strengthen audit readiness through a consolidated source of treasury data.

The deployment is designed to provide treasury teams with a comprehensive view of liquidity, exposures, positions, and limits across multiple instruments and currencies, enabling more informed decision-making and stronger oversight of market and foreign exchange risks.

Venkateshwaran Srinivasan, Global Head, Financial Solutions, Tata Consultancy Services, said, “Treasury transformation today is about more than automation—it is about enabling banks to operate with speed, insight, and confidence in dynamic market environments. With TCS BaNCS for Treasury, we are proud to support Indian Bank’s overseas business in Sri Lanka with a solution that brings together deep treasury functionality, operational resilience, and regulatory confidence.”

As part of the engagement, TCS will also provide deployment and ongoing maintenance services, helping ensure integration with the bank’s existing systems and international market infrastructure.

For Indian Bank’s Colombo branch, the platform is expected to improve treasury control, accelerate deal execution and settlement cycles, strengthen regulatory compliance, and support the continued growth of its overseas operations.
