Standard Bank adopts TraydFund for trade asset distribution
By Divya Shah
Why it matters: The partnership highlights growing demand for digital trade finance infrastructure that connects banks, investors, and trade assets through a single platform. For FinTechs, it demonstrates opportunities in trade asset distribution, liquidity management, document digitisation, and network-based financing models that help financial institutions scale trade finance activity efficiently.
Standard Bank Group has adopted Traydstream’s TraydFund solution, expanding a partnership between the two organisations that has spanned more than seven years.
The agreement will see Standard Bank use TraydFund, Traydstream’s bank-to-bank trade asset distribution engine, to enhance its trade finance distribution capabilities across Africa and the wider Middle East, Turkey and Africa (META) region.
Standard Bank was among Traydstream’s earliest platform clients and has worked closely with the trade finance technology provider as both organisations expanded their presence in the market. The latest deployment marks another step in the ongoing collaboration, focused on modernising trade finance and improving access to trade assets through digital infrastructure.
Sameer Sehgal, CEO of Traydstream, said, “Over the past seven years, we have grown together and built a partnership founded on trust, collaboration and a shared commitment to transforming trade finance. Standard Bank’s adoption of TraydFund represents another significant milestone in our relationship, enabling the bank to leverage our global network of banking clients through a secure, digital bank-to-bank distribution engine. Their continued confidence in us is a testament to our solutions, our people and our ambition to become the most applicable trade partner in the world.”
TraydFund enables participating banks to distribute and invest in trade assets through a secure digital environment. The platform supports direct engagement between banks, trade asset negotiation, document exchange, and improved visibility across the transaction lifecycle.
By adopting the solution, Standard Bank gains access to Traydstream’s network of banking clients, enabling it to broaden its trade asset distribution reach, connect with additional banking counterparties, and pursue new growth opportunities within trade finance markets.
The renewed partnership also provides a framework for both organisations to deepen collaboration and expand services across the region as demand for digital trade finance infrastructure continues to grow.
Daniel Morais, Head of Trade & Balance Sheet Solutions at Standard Bank Group, said, “Our partnership with Traystream, through the Traydfund platform, speaks to our mandate of driving more trade on the continent. Bank-to-bank trade asset distribution is one of the mechanisms that will enable us to deliver on the growth of trade in Africa. Standard Bank continues to be committed to delivering on our promise; Africa is our home, and we drive her growth.”
