Josh Software launches AI voice banking service
By Divya Shah
Why it matters: Voice banking is emerging as a key channel for reaching underserved and vernacular-speaking customers. For FinTechs and banks, Josh Software’s approach combines AI, multilingual capabilities and open-source technology to expand digital engagement while reducing vendor lock-in.
Josh Software has launched an AI-based voice banking service designed to help banks and financial institutions accelerate the adoption of conversational banking within their existing digital ecosystems.
The new offering enables institutions to integrate voice-based interactions into their banking services, allowing customers to access and manage banking functions using natural voice conversations.
A feature of the service is the transfer of source code ownership to the institution, enabling banks to retain full control of the intellectual property and customise the solution according to their evolving requirements.
The platform combines intent recognition with support for multiple Indian regional languages, allowing customers to interact with banking services in their preferred language and natural speaking style. This aims to improve accessibility and extend digital banking services to customers across Tier II, Tier III and rural markets.
Gautam Rege, Co-Founder, Josh Software, said, “Banks and financial institutions today have access to several voice products and services, and many are exploring how to integrate them seamlessly into their existing digital infrastructure. From our experience working with these institutions, we understand the engineering effort involved in connecting these technologies with existing digital systems. We introduced this service to help accelerate this process.”
“By using open-source technologies, we also enable institutions to retain ownership of what is built, reduce vendor dependency and choose suitable technologies. Our focus is to provide the engineering support banks need to implement and accelerate voice banking while giving them the independence to customise as they evolve,” he added.
The service can be deployed within a bank’s own environment, ensuring customer data remains within the institution’s ecosystem and supporting compliance with data security and regulatory requirements.
The launch builds on Josh Software’s experience delivering technology solutions across banking, lending, payments, investment platforms and customer-facing applications. The company said its latest offering is intended to help financial institutions scale conversational banking services while making digital banking more accessible to underserved customer segments across India.
