GII acquires majority stake in UK property investment platform LHX
By Divya Shah
Gulf Islamic Investments (GII) has acquired a majority stake in London House Exchange (LHX), the UK investment platform formerly known as Property Partner, for an undisclosed amount following approval from the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).
The acquisition strengthens GII’s presence in the UK financial services market and adds a regulated investment platform to its portfolio. Better, the Nasdaq-listed fintech company, will retain a strategic minority stake in LHX.
LHX operates an FCA-regulated marketplace that enables investors to buy fractional interests in UK property assets. The platform will continue operating under existing regulatory protections, with client funds, investments and shareholdings remaining unchanged. Trading on the platform is scheduled to resume on 5 October following a temporary pause linked to the ownership transition.
The transaction marks GII’s second major investment in the UK financial services sector after its backing of Offa, a Sharia-compliant home finance provider. The investment group also owns Vision Bank, a licensed digital Islamic bank in Abu Dhabi, and operates private credit businesses across the Gulf region.
GII plans to broaden LHX’s offering beyond property investing by introducing access to alternative asset classes, including private credit and Sharia-compliant income-generating investments. The company also intends to provide investors with access to selected opportunities alongside GII, including real estate and IPO-related investments.
Future plans for the platform include the development of regulated tokenised investment products backed by real-world assets, as well as further investment in technology and platform capabilities.
Anand Periwal, Chief Operating Officer for Financial Services at GII, said LHX represents an important addition to the group’s expanding financial services ecosystem and will support its strategy of offering a broader range of investment opportunities to clients.
The acquisition highlights a growing trend of Gulf-based financial institutions expanding into regulated Western markets. For LHX, the deal provides additional capital and strategic backing to diversify beyond its traditional property investment focus, while GII gains a regulated UK trading venue that complements its banking, home finance and private credit operations.
