Mambu partners Mastercard to simplify cross-border payments
By Divya Shah
Cloud banking platform Mambu has partnered with Mastercard to help financial institutions deliver faster, more secure and transparent cross-border payment services through a simplified integration model.
As part of the collaboration, Mambu will connect Mastercard Move, Mastercard’s portfolio of money movement capabilities, with Mambu Intelligent Core, its cloud-native core banking and payments platform designed to process, orchestrate and extend financial services at scale.
The integration will provide Mambu customers with a pre-built connection to Mastercard Move, reducing implementation complexity and enabling financial institutions to bring cross-border payment services to market more quickly. By embedding these capabilities into digital banking journeys, banks and fintechs will be able to offer a more seamless experience for customers sending and receiving international payments.
Fernando Zandona, CEO of Mambu, said, “Adding cross-border payment capabilities shouldn’t require financial institutions to take on years of integration work or rethink their entire tech stack. By integrating Mambu’s Intelligent Core with Mastercard Move, we are giving our customers a simpler way to introduce these capabilities, accelerate time to market and continue building on the investments they’ve already made.”
The collaboration follows Mambu’s expansion into payments after its acquisition of Numeral in 2024. The company said the integration will provide banks with a broader foundation to develop international payment services for both SME and retail customers, as demand grows for faster, more transparent and frictionless cross-border transactions.
Pratik Khowala, Global Head of Transfer Solutions at Mastercard, said, “Despite advances in digital payments, moving money across borders remains complex and fragmented, with people and businesses expecting greater speed, transparency and certainty. Mastercard Move combines global reach with trusted money movement capabilities to help financial institutions meet those expectations.”
Mastercard Move supports money transfers across more than 200 countries and territories and over 150 currencies, reaching more than 17 billion endpoints and approximately 95% of the world’s banked population, providing financial institutions with extensive global payment coverage.
