Visa partners Reap to scale stablecoin-linked card programmes
By Divya Shah
Reap, a financial technology company specialising in stablecoin-enabled infrastructure, has partnered with Visa to expand stablecoin-linked credit card programmes across more than 100 markets globally.
The collaboration extends Reap’s Visa card issuing infrastructure beyond its existing presence in Asia and Latin America to Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA), supporting compliant card programme launches across multiple jurisdictions.
Daren Guo, co-founder of Reap, said the partnership aims to make stablecoins as accessible and practical for businesses as traditional payment methods by providing a compliant pathway for companies to issue card programmes globally.
Under the partnership, FinTechs, businesses and platforms will be able to issue Visa credit cards powered by Reap’s infrastructure, which includes card network authorisation, processing, compliance frameworks and operational support.
The model is designed to help partners accelerate product launches while reducing the complexity of managing card programmes across different markets.
Through the platform, businesses can integrate stablecoins into card programmes by using digital assets as collateral, enabling cardholders to repay balances in stablecoins and supporting cross-border corporate spending. The infrastructure also allows users to make purchases at more than 175 million merchant locations that accept Visa worldwide.
“Stablecoin-linked card programmes are entering a new stage and phase of scale and adoption. Visa is partnering with innovators like Reap to bring trusted and secure payment infrastructure to more markets and use cases, enabling these businesses to move faster while reaching the global acceptance and reliability they need to grow,” said Stephen Karpin, President, Visa Asia Pacific.
The expanded partnership is expected to support several use cases, including corporate treasury management, cross-border business spending, global payouts, vendor payments and embedded finance solutions for B2B platforms. Companies will also be able to launch branded card programmes that integrate stablecoin funding and repayment capabilities into existing customer experiences.
