Nequi moves 6 million accounts to Pismo’s cloud-native platform
By Divya Shah
Nequi, the digital banking platform of Grupo Cibest, has migrated more than 6 million accounts to the cloud-native platform of Pismo, a Visa company, marking a step in the neobank’s technology modernisation strategy.
The migration enables Nequi to operate on Pismo’s API-based processing platform, providing greater flexibility to develop new products, scale operations and meet the demands of its growing customer base.
By adopting Pismo’s technology, Nequi aims to enhance its ability to deliver faster, more personalised financial services while strengthening the infrastructure supporting its digital banking operations.
Juan Sebastián González, Payments and Collections Manager at Nequi, said, “Better technology, expert partners, and cutting-edge services enable us to continue creating opportunities for individuals and businesses. Visa has been a key partner throughout Nequi’s journey, and this new processing capability takes us to the next level.”
The move highlights the growing importance of modern payment processing infrastructure as financial institutions seek to improve scalability, real-time transaction capabilities and customer experience.
José Lozada, Vice President of Value-Added Services for Visa’s Andean Region, said, “At Visa, we are committed to supporting our partners with the technology, infrastructure, scale, and expert teams needed to elevate the payments ecosystem across our region.”
Pismo provides a cloud-native technology platform built on microservices and APIs, offering card issuing, digital banking and financial product processing capabilities. The platform is designed to help banks, neobanks and FinTechs accelerate innovation while supporting high transaction volumes.
Leonardo J. Collado, SVP and General Manager of Pismo, said, “With Nequi’s migration to the Pismo platform, Colombia becomes a regional benchmark for how a financial institution can transition to a fully cloud-based infrastructure capable of processing payments in real time, scaling without friction, and enabling AI-driven innovation at the pace consumers demand.”
