Unlimit, a global financial infrastructure company, has obtained a money service operator (MSO) licence from Hong Kong’s Commissioner of Customs and Excise, strengthening its regulatory presence in the region and supporting its expansion across Asia-Pacific.

The licence allows Unlimit to further develop its payments offering from Hong Kong, introducing additional local payment channels for businesses operating across the Asia-Pacific region.

The development comes as cross-border commerce and digital payments continue to gain momentum across APAC, a region characterised by diverse currencies, payment methods and regulatory frameworks.

By strengthening its presence in Hong Kong, Unlimit aims to simplify market entry and payment operations for businesses expanding across multiple jurisdictions.

Hong Kong’s role as a global financial hub makes it a strategic base for its regional growth plans. The city ranked as the world’s fourth-largest foreign exchange centre in the 2025 Triennial Central Bank Survey, recording average daily foreign exchange turnover of $883 billion in April 2025, a 27% increase compared to April 2022.

Through its Hong Kong operations, Unlimit plans to expand access to local payment rails and support businesses seeking to manage cross-border transactions more efficiently across Asia-Pacific markets.

“Asia-Pacific is not a unified payments market. Companies entering new markets in the region must navigate different currencies, payment systems and regulatory requirements,” said Michele Fung, Head of APAC at Unlimit.

“The Hong Kong licence will enable us to help them manage this complexity and move money across borders as they grow,” she added.
