Payzone has partnered with FinTech Miconex to make Town & City Gift Cards available across more than 3,000 retail locations in Ireland, expanding access to digital payments designed to support local businesses.

Under the partnership, customers have been able to purchase locally branded Town & City Gift Cards at selected Payzone payment terminals in convenience stores, newsagents and supermarkets. The cards have been available in values ranging from $11.70– $292.50.

The programme has covered locations including Ballinrobe, Carndonagh, Drogheda, Donegal Town, Dungarvan and West Waterford, Kilkenny, Limerick, Letterkenny, Monaghan, Mullingar, Macroom, Sligo, Tipperary, Waterford and Wexford, with further programmes expected to launch during 2026.

Olivia Noonan, Head of Financial Services at Payzone Ireland, said: “Making Town & City Gift Cards available through our retail network gives consumers another easy, convenient way to ‘support local’.”

Once purchased, recipients have been able to add their digital gift cards to a digital wallet through Miconex’s Love Local app. The Mastercard-backed cards have been redeemable at participating shops, restaurants, salons, attractions and hotels.

Payzone and Miconex have estimated that the partnership could generate an additional $1.16 million in spending for Irish communities over three years. Miconex has reported that more than $20.9 million of Town & City Gift Cards have been sold in Ireland during 2025.

Colin Munro, CEO of Miconex, has said the partnership has placed the cards closer to consumers while they have been purchasing everyday essentials.

The collaboration has reflected the growing use of digital wallets and card-based payment infrastructure to support local commerce, while giving consumers a digital alternative for gifting, rewards and incentives.

Payzone has continued expanding its payment network across Ireland, while Miconex has focused on digital gift card programmes designed to retain consumer spending within local economies.
