Alipay+ has expanded its cross-border mobile payment services in Latin America through a partnership with PVS, enabling international travellers to make QR-code payments across merchants connected to the PVS network.

The collaboration allows users of Alipay+ partner payment applications, including more than 50 e-wallets and banking apps alongside over 10 national QR payment schemes, to make payments at participating merchants across Chile and Argentina. The companies also plan to expand the service into additional Latin American markets.

The initiative is aimed at supporting international travellers, particularly visitors from Asia, by providing secure and convenient digital payment options while reducing reliance on currency exchange and traditional payment methods.

Through a single integration, merchants connected to the PVS network can accept local currency payments from a range of international digital wallets and banking applications used across Asia and Europe. Businesses will also gain access to cross-border customer engagement and marketing tools as Alipay+ continues expanding its AI-powered travel and payments ecosystem.

“At PVS, we are proud to partner with Alipay+ to offer Asian and European travellers visiting Latin America a payment experience that is familiar, secure and transparent, through the wallets they already know and trust,” said Lucio Colunga, Chief Executive Officer of PVS. He added that the partnership would help local businesses connect with international consumers and unlock new growth opportunities across the region.

“This landmark partnership builds on Ant International’s technology capabilities, risk solutions and marketing tools with PVS’s deep local expertise, fast-growing networks and regulatory know-how,” said Weixiao Jiang, General Manager for North Asia and the Americas at Alipay+ under Ant International. He noted that the company remains focused on expanding partnerships that support regional digitalisation and AI adoption.

Alipay+ currently connects more than 150 million merchants globally and provides access to nearly 2 billion consumer accounts. Ant International has also been expanding its partnerships across Latin America to support cross-border payments, SME financing and digital commerce solutions.
