WooCommerce, Mastercard partner to expand digital payments
By Vriti Gothi

WooCommerce has partnered with Mastercard to expand digital payment acceptance for ecommerce merchants across Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), in a move aimed at streamlining online checkout experiences and improving access to local payment infrastructure.
Under the collaboration, WooCommerce merchants will be able to integrate with Mastercard Merchant Cloud, the card network’s unified payments gateway that provides enhanced processing capabilities and advanced fraud prevention tools. The integration will also enable acceptance of a broader range of payment methods, including major card brands and non-card options, through connectivity with Mastercard’s network of more than 200 acquiring bank partners.
The initiative is positioned to advance digital acceptance across EMEA, particularly for small and mid-sized online businesses that rely on simplified payment rails to scale. By offering a consistent connection to both global and local acquirers, the partnership is expected to support greater conversion rates for merchants while broadening consumer choice at checkout.
Maria Parpou, Executive Vice President, Mastercard Merchant Cloud, said, “The tie-up brings the power of Mastercard’s global network to Woo’s platform, offering consumers simple and convenient ways to pay, while giving merchants access to a range of acquiring banks and helping them grow online.”
Beau Lebens, Woo Lead at WooCommerce, noted, “The collaboration expands the platform’s regional relevance. By working together, WooCommerce merchants gain access to the widest array of banking and financial services relevant in their region with robust new payment options,” he said.
WooCommerce, which powers more than 4 million online stores and is used by over one-third of ecommerce sites globally, expects the integration to simplify cross-border expansion and provide merchants with a more flexible payments stack.
