Finance Now has partnered with Visa and cloud-based banking platform Pismo to introduce New Zealand’s first open-loop fleet payment solution, set to roll out in the first half of 2026. The initiative marks a move to modernise expense management for business vehicles at a time when fleets are becoming increasingly digitised and more financially monitored.

The platform will allow businesses to manage fuel, servicing, tolls, and other vehicle expenses through a single Visa-enabled solution accepted across all merchants on the network. Unlike traditional closed-loop fuel cards, the system is designed for wider acceptance and granular control of spending, supported by Pismo’s API-driven infrastructure.

Hadyn Halls, CEO, Finance Now, said the offering responds to emerging needs in corporate fleet management. “There is a clear demand for a fleet management payment solution that elevates standards in the New Zealand market,” he said. “By joining forces with Visa and Pismo, we are delivering a service that not only meets our clients’ needs today but is also flexible enough to evolve as the market changes.”

The solution will offer capabilities such as instant digital card issuance to mobile wallets, transaction-level data including pump-specific information, and controls for both individual drivers and fleet administrators. Real-time author monitoring, tokenisation-based security, and support for electric vehicle charging are also incorporated.

Ben Adams, Visa’s Head of Commercial and Government Solutions for Oceania, said the move will help modernise fleet payments. “Fleet owners will benefit from a modern, open platform backed by Visa’s network, tokenised controls, and richer data—resulting in a simpler, safer way to manage fuel and mobility spend,” he said.

Pismo, which provides the underlying core banking and card infrastructure, said the platform is designed to evolve. “Finance Now will have the flexibility to continue innovating and deliver tangible value for their clients,” said Varun Dudeja, Head of Business Development, APAC at Pismo.

Finance Now expects to collaborate with fuel networks, fleet management firms, and mobility partners to expand acceptance and usage once the solution goes live. The launch signals a strategic shift in the country’s fleet payments market, moving toward broader interoperability and real-time digital controls at a national scale.
