Vietnam Prosperity Joint-Stock Commercial Bank (VPBank) has modernised its core banking system using Temenos technology in collaboration with Systems Limited, deploying the next-generation platform on Red Hat OpenShift. This transformation forms a part of VPBank’s digital strategy to strengthen innovation, enhance customer-centric banking, and achieve greater operational excellence through a more agile, scalable, and efficient technology foundation.
Through this transformation, VPBank migrated from its previous version of the Temenos core banking system to the latest release, now hosted on Red Hat OpenShift. The modernisation encompassed the seamless migration of over 18 million customer accounts and millions of loan records, serving a customer base of more than 17 million. Remarkably, the entire migration was completed within a single cutover window of less than 24 hours underscoring the precision and scalability of the initiative.
By embracing a fully cloud-native architecture, VPBank has unlocked new levels of agility, resilience, and performance across its banking operations. The Red Hat OpenShift deployment provides a robust, flexible foundation for the bank to accelerate product innovation, integrate more effectively with partners, and deliver richer, more reliable digital experiences to customers. The modernised platform is designed to drive efficiency at scale, automating key workflows, optimising IT resources, and lowering operational costs.
“At VPBank, modernisation is not an end in itself but a foundation for what comes next. By embracing open, cloud-native architectures and reengineering our core banking platform on Red Hat OpenShift, we are building the agility and resilience needed to continuously innovate at scale. This transformation reflects our commitment to being a technology-first bank—one that can evolve rapidly, deliver with consistency, and serve all our customers with trust and speed in an ever-changing digital world. We deeply value the strong collaboration with Temenos, Red Hat, and Systems Limited, whose partnership has been instrumental in turning this vision into reality,” said Wong Kok Seng Augustine, Chief Information Officer, VPBank.
“We are proud to partner with VPBank, Systems Limited, and Red Hat on this groundbreaking transformation. By moving to the latest Temenos Core on Red Hat OpenShift, VPBank gains the agility to design and launch products faster, integrate seamlessly with digital ecosystems, and deliver superior experiences to millions of customers. This project sets a new benchmark for core banking modernisation in the region and highlights how leading banks like VPBank are choosing Temenos to accelerate innovation, enhance customer experiences, and scale with confidence,” said William Dale, Managing Director – APAC, Temenos.
