By Vriti Gothi

Vipps MobilePay has partnered with Tink, a Visa Solution, to integrate Tink’s Pay by Bank functionality into its platform, enhancing peer-to-peer (P2P) payment capabilities in Finland. The solution has now been rolled out, enabling all Finnish MobilePay users to link and transact directly using their Finnish bank accounts via Tink’s secure, account-based payment technology.
As part of this collaboration, Tink’s Pay by Bank will also become one of the three payment options available in Vipps MobilePay’s eCommerce checkout in Finland, providing consumers with seamless, secure, and instant payment capabilities.
With more than 12 million users across Norway, Finland, Sweden, and Denmark, Vipps MobilePay processes over one billion payments annually, positioning it at the forefront of the Nordic digital payments landscape.
Perttu Kröger, Finland Country Manager at Vipps MobilePay, commented, “Account-based payments have a strong presence in the future of Vipps MobilePay in Finland. We’re excited to partner with Tink and utilise their Pay by Bank product for this development to our offering. With Tink’s market-leading connectivity, we’ll offer almost three million Finnish MobilePay users a secure way to make simple payments straight from their bank account.”
Tink, a market-leading open banking platform acquired by Visa in 2022, provides scalable account connectivity and a secure infrastructure for digital payments. Ian Morrin, Head of Payments at Tink, added, “We’re thrilled to support Vipps MobilePay as they enhance their Finnish offering with Pay by Bank. By combining our connectivity with Vipps MobilePay’s popular wallet experience, consumers gain a fast and intuitive way to pay. This is a great example of how Pay by Bank can power everyday payments at scale.”
This strategic partnership underscores Vipps MobilePay’s commitment to digital innovation, customer-centric design, and expanding the adoption of account-based payments across the Nordic region.
