Icon SolutionsIcon Solutions, a UK-based FinTech, has secured equity investment from UBS, joined by continued backing from Citi and NatWest, to accelerate global payments modernisation through its flagship cloud-native platform, the Icon Payments Framework (IPF).

This marks an important step forward in Icon’s growth, as the company strengthens its mission to help banks take control of their payment system upgrades using modern, flexible, and affordable technology.

At the core of Icon’s offering is the Icon Payments Framework (IPF) a cloud-based, low-code platform that enables banks to quickly design, build, and launch powerful, scalable payment systems with greater flexibility and control. Trusted by leading global banks like Citi and NatWest, IPF is known for speeding up payment modernisation while cutting down reliance on external vendors, reducing launch times, and lowering overall costs.

By equipping institutions with the tools to take charge of their transformation agendas, IPF enables seamless integration of real-time, cross-border, and high-volume payment services in line with evolving customer expectations and regulatory demands.

The addition of UBS as an investor and strategic collaborator reflects a shared commitment to reshaping the future of global payments through innovation, resilience, and customer-centric design. The enhanced collaboration will support UBS’s vision to deliver frictionless, instant payment experiences across its global client base, while also contributing to the broader evolution of the banking ecosystem.

Tom Kelleher, Co-Founder and Director of Icon Solutions, said, “This investment round is further endorsement of our founding belief that banks should be empowered to lead their own payments transformation. With IPF now internationally proven and increasingly adopted by major financial institutions, we look forward to continuing our close partnerships with Citi, NatWest and UBS to build on this global momentum and deliver truly innovative and ground-breaking payments solutions.”

Pieter Brouwer, Head of Group Operations and Technology Office (GOTO) for Personal & Corporate Banking and GWM Switzerland & International, UBS, said, “Icon, an important partner of UBS, plays a crucial role in modernising payment platforms with innovative infrastructure solutions.” Brouwer adds: “This investment reinforces our partnership with Icon and confirms our commitment to deliver faster to market, future-ready payment solutions for our clients. The collaboration helps us drive innovation at scale and enhances our capabilities for seamless instant payments and advanced transaction processing.”
