MashreqMashreq and Clari5 launch GenAI-powered fraud detection platform, Clari5, Acquisition, Fraud, Risk Management, Financial Crime has partnered with Indian RiskTech firm Clari5 to launch Clari5 Genie, an advanced GenAI-powered fraud detection and investigation platform.

Clari5 Genie leverages generative AI to help banks proactively detect and combat fraud by identifying hidden patterns, simulating investigations, and accelerating case resolution. The platform features smart prompt engineering, similarity-based analysis, and auto-generated case narratives, equipping investigators with deeper insights and faster decision-making capabilities while maintaining strict adherence to data privacy and regulatory standards.

Mashreq will be the first institution to implement Clari5 Genie, deploying the solution entirely on-premises to uphold the highest levels of data security and compliance. The platform is expected to facilitate fraud investigations up to 70% faster and enable early identification of emerging threats. Notable capabilities include:

  • A natural language console for investigators
  • Smart prompt engineering for real-time threat simulations
  • Auto-generated case narratives and a recommendation engine
  • Similarity-based detection of anomalous patterns
  • Role-based access, encryption, and compliance monitoring
  • Fully on-premise deployment, with no dependency on external cloud infrastructure

Commenting on the partnership, Gurcharan Chhabra, Executive Vice President and Head of Fraud Prevention & Intelligence at Mashreq, said, “With Clari5 Genie, we will bring forth a paradigm shift in fraud prevention. With Clari5, we plan to go beyond traditional fraud systems and build a live, GenAI-powered intelligence layer that sees what others miss, simulates threats before they hit, and tells the story of a case in real time. We aim to operationalise GenAI for financial crime and set a global benchmark for next-generation fraud intelligence.”

Clari5, part of the Perfios Group, specialises in enterprise fraud and risk management. It offers solutions designed to deliver precision and scalability in financial crime prevention.

Balaji Suryanarayana, Co-founder and Chief Operating Officer at Clari5, added, “Clari5 Genie isn’t merely an upgrade, it’s a generational leap in how fraud is understood and tackled. We are reimagining fraud prevention by placing a secure, GenAI engine directly into the hands of investigators, enabling them to ask questions, run live threat simulations, generate actionable narratives, and do all of this in real time, on-premise, with zero compromise on compliance. Mashreq’s visionary team has been pivotal in shaping the platform from day one. This is a rare case where product and customer innovation are indistinguishable, and together, we aim to create the world’s first truly intelligent, explainable, and production-grade GenAI fraud platform.”
