Wise, Wise Platform, Itaú Unibanco, Cross Border Payments, SME Payments, FinTech, Brazil, Latin AmericaItaú Unibanco has partnered with Wise Platform to offer a seamless and instant cross-border payments experience directly through the Itaú app. This collaboration enables customers to send and receive payments in foreign currencies effortlessly, complementing Itaú’s existing currency reserve and international account offerings.

With this integration, customers can now make international transactions with the same ease and speed as Pix, 24/7, without being limited by business hours. Additionally, the entire process is fully transparent, allowing users to track each stage of their transactions in real time.

“Over the past few years, we have evolved our foreign exchange solutions for tourists, offering currency exchange reservations directly through the app and withdrawal at our branches or 24-hour ATMs. We launched the international account and expanded the benefits of points on our credit cards, and now we have evolved in international remittances. People need to send money abroad, whether to make a payment or to send money to a child who is on an exchange program, for example. To meet this need, we believe that sending money abroad should be as easy and fluid as Pix and directly in the Itaú app,” said Gabriel Rombenso, Superintendent of Products and Corporate Sales at Itaú Unibanco.

Initially, transactions under the same holder can be sent and paid instantly in Euros and Pound Sterling. By the end of 2025, 12 additional currencies, including US dollars, Canadian dollars, Australian dollars, Japanese yen, and New Zealand dollars, will be offered.

“The partnership with Itaú is a true testament to how banks can deliver better cross-border payments experiences to their customers at scale by leveraging the capabilities of the Wise Platform. Itaú shares our strong vision of improving cross-border money movement. We are excited to work with them to make cross-border payments – fast, transparent, affordable and convenient – a core element of their service,” said Steve Naudé, Global Managing Director of the Wise Platform.
