As services become increasingly digitalized, most consumers now rely on their phones for quick access to their everyday essentials. While the Google Pay app remains intact in processing all payments, Google Wallet will bring a new level of convenience to the Android experience in India.

With Google Wallet, you can have a single, organized platform for fast, secure access to your everyday essentials: boarding passes, loyalty cards, event tickets, public transport tickets, gift cards, and more. They are easily accessible when you need them.

To initiate its India outreach, Google has partnered with over 20 of India’s brands, offering a wide range of partners for any digital wallet. It plans to add more partners to the existing list.

Key features of using Google Wallet:

  • Save movie or event tickets: in collaboration with PVR & INOX, Android users can add movie and event tickets to Google Wallet.
  • Access boarding passes: Partnering with airlines like Air India and Air India Express and online travel companies like MakeMyTrip, Ixigo, and Easemytrip to help travellers easily save and access their mobile boarding passes in Google Wallet.
  • Redeem loyalty or gift cards: Team up with Flipkart (Supercoins), Dominos, Shoppers Stop, and brands supported by loyalty program enablers Pinelabs, EasyRewardz and Twid to help store and use digital copies of your loyalty and gift cards.
  • Ride public transport: with Hyderabad Metro, Kochi Metro, VRL Travels and Abhibus, one can purchase and store public transport tickets.
  • Use your Android phone as your corporate badge: With system integrators Wavelynx and Alert Enterprise, accessing the workplace is now more convenient with a corporate badge in Google Wallet.
  • Digitize physical documents: In Wallet, one can easily create new passes from images containing a barcode or QR code, such as airline boarding passes, luggage tags and parking receipts.
  • Automatically view tickets from Gmail
